The Puggish Invasion (Part 2)

And the tri-pug adventures continued…

Donald, Daisy, and Sid did a little gift exchange with eachother. Sid received some cool and extremely thoughtful presents – including a STUFFED BABY CARROT!

I know you’re plush, but I still plan to eat you one day.

He also got a some sweet potato treats and a super soft and warm fleece sweater that used to belong to Payton. It’ll surely keep him warm during this winter that seems like it may have a few more months to go. Thank you, Donald, Daisy, Christy, and Tim!

Sid gave Donald and Daisy each a Wigzi because he felt they were not getting enough peanut butter in their daily lives. He said that peanut butter and baby carrots are an essential component of the pug food triangle.

For some reason, the pugs got a kick out of playing on the deflated air-bed. I think it may have been the fact that Tim was sitting on it and he possesses some sort of gravitational pull that the pugs cannot resist.

Unfortunately the party couldn’t last forever. Donald and Daisy got bundled up and their ‘rents packed up all the pug accoutrements.

Sid didn’t want our special guests to leave, so he forged what he thought was a fool-proof plan…

C’mon! How did you guys find me in here?!

We had a great time with D & D and their ‘rents this past weekend. Looking forward to their next visit to the Windy City!

Sid & Christy

The Puggish Invasion (Part 1)

As prophesied by our fantastic (and possibly psychic) readers, Donald and Daisy from Pug-a-Boo (and their ‘rents, Tim and Christy) were the special guests that spent the weekend kickin’ it at Chateaux Pugslope.

Despite the predictions of a brutal snow storm, the weather stayed on our side somehow, so we couldn’t resist taking the pups to the park for a photo shoot to capture this special occasion.

Ladies first… here’s the delightful DAISY!

And here’s her partner in crime, the dapper Donald.

Let me tell you, it was tricky getting all three pugs in one photo. Even more difficult was getting them to all look in the same direction at the same time. While Sid and Donald were captivated by the baby carrots that Tim was seductively waving off-camera, Daisy wasn’t very interested. It’s been rumored that she doesn’t get out of bed unless filet mignon or higher is on the menu, so the BC’s weren’t really up to scratch. Luckily we also had some tasty venison jerky on hand, which captivated the entire gang.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, lose sight of that venison jerky!

(A squirrel breaks Donald’s concentration)

HOLD UP! Um, are you telling me I just missed the venison jerky delivery?! WTP?!

After the photo shoot and a liesurely stroll through the park, the pugs crashed, allowing us humans to hang out for a bit and partake in some treats of our own.

Tune in tomorrow for Part 2!

How Did You Know?!

Congratulations to all the readers that guessed who the special guests staying at Pug Slope HQ this past weekend were…

It was none other than DONALD and DAISY from Pug-a-Boo, along with their ‘rents Tim and Christy (who also happen to be the ‘rents of Angel Payton). That’s Daisy on the left, Sid in the middle, and Donald on the right.

As soon as the comments starting coming in on Friday’s post, I was astonished by how many people guessed the special guests correctly. I thought I had withheld the details and kept things vague enough but either you guys used some mystical psychic pug juju or Sid hacked my email account again and published all the details on wikileaks.

The photo above doesn’t quite convey the extreme size difference of Sid compared to either Donald or Daisy. D & D are practically “pockets pugs” compared to Sid.

More details of the pug party to come later this week! Stay tuned!

Boring Week = Exciting Weekend

So my dad and I haven’t written any posts this week (other than Monday) because it’s been pretty boring over here at Pug Slope Headquarters.

I mean, we’ve just been doing our normal mundane routine – y’know walks a couple times a day, breakfast, stuffed Wigzi balls for a lunchtime snack, dinner, midnight snack if I’m so lucky, and plently of sleeping and napping.

Turns out that laying low this week was actually a good thing, though, cuz now I am totally prepared for AN EXCITING WEEKEND!

My dad hasn’t told me the whole story but he mentioned that some guests (yes, there’s an “s” on the end of that) will be crashing with us at Pug Slope HQ. And we’re not only talking human guests but also GUESTS OF THE PUG KIND. And yes, there’s an “S” on the end of that one, too!

OMP I can’t wait. It’s too bad my dad did all that cleaning last weekend, I was hoping to show off my cool “peanut-butter print” bed that I’d worked so hard on the past few months. Oh well.

So, guys, who do you think the guests could be?!

The Boo McMuffin

In addition to the excitement of 1000 Pugs last Sunday, and Sid’s Birthday Week, we’ve also had a special guest spending a week-long holiday here at Camp Pug Slope.

It’s none other than Stella Boo McMuffin – the pint-sized sister of Eddie the Pug from San Francisco.

I think Sid may have met his match when it comes to “food motivation”. Stella takes food VERY seriously. And coincidentally, her favorite treats are baby carrots – which you know we already have ample supply of here at PugSlope H.Q.

Aside from Sid being a little particular about which toys Stella can play with, and claiming her little bed as his own, they’ve been getting along like old fur-riends.

1000 Pugs!

Well there weren’t quite 1000 pugs at Washington Square Park on Sunday, but there were at least two dozen. Despite the chilly temps and drizzle, we made it to the NYC 1000 Pugs photo shoot.

This was Sid’s second subway adventure, so of course he knew this meant he’d be hanging out in his travel bag for the duration of the subterranean journey. Stella Boo McMuffin (from Greenpoint, Brooklyn) was also in tow as she was spending the week on holiday with us at Camp Pug Slope.

Don’t worry, these aren’t “suspicious packages” – they’re just a coupla’ pugs.

When we got to the the park, Sid and Stella were greeted by none other than Puglet, from The Daily Puglet.

Mr. Puglet, himself!

He’s got amazing eyes!

Puglet’s human, Amanda, is the sole creator, organizer, scheduler, and photographer for the 1000 Pugs project. She is awesome and, by the end of the shoot, Sid wanted to go home with her (I mean she was wearing a POUCH FILLED WITH BABY CARROTS, how could Sid resist?).

You had me at ‘baby carrot’.

Amanda’s mom was there keeping an eye and Puglet and his cousin, Sophie who was as sweet as could be. While the other pugs were running around, panting, sniffing, and getting their leashes twisted into a cat’s cradle, Sophie just chilled out in Amanda’s mom’s arms.

Pretty soon it seemed like everyone we’ve ever met via the blog showed up! It was insane!

Weasley from Urban Hounds, sporting his ever-so-dapper tweed jacket.

I need a cool jacket like that, Dad!

Ping, also from Urban Hounds, was also there in a little sweatshirt, as was Tubby (who I didn’t get a good photo of – Sorry Tubby!)

Scarlet from The Scarlet Sutras kept dry up on her mom’s lap. She sure is a wise pug!

We also finally got to meet the M3 gang, who I painted portraits of a while back.

Mochi,

Macho,

and Marshmallow – he’s a self-admitted “momma’s boy”.

Mochi explained to Sid the pros/cons of having to live with two other pugs. Sid didn’t understand the concept of having to ‘share treats’.

And that’s NOT ALL! Of course Sid’s LADY-FRIEND ESPECIAL, Miss Timothy Buttons, was there with her ‘rents.

Like Sid, T-Buttz was a little pooped after her photo shoot, too. Amanda made them WORK for those treats!

Tim and Christy (from Pugnacious P) were there, on the last stop of their “Remembering Payton” tour. We still miss Payton a lot and it was really nice to hang out with them (more on that in another post, too!).

The rain started coming down pretty hard, and there was a lot of pug shivering goin’ on, especially among the M3 posse, but soon spirits were lifted when the whole Southern Fried Pugs crew rolled on up. Yes, they literally rolled up.

Um, I think the pug count just doubled.

Aside from all the pugs and people we know from blogging, there were also some adorable local NYC pugs, including one named Pixel.

Unfortunately, even with all the PUG LOVE in the air, the crummy weather was getting to pug and human alike – even Stella was dropping hints that it was time to get home.

So, like, am I supposed to get in this bag all by myself?!

Before we headed for the subway, Sid insisted we get a photo with him and Puglet.

The “Jimmy” masters.

For Payton

Sid and Payton in Chicago, December 2011

What a sad day.  Payton, you little ball of inspiration and determination and perseverance and love, we’re honored to have gotten to know you through your amazing blog and to have had the opportunity to spend time with you in Chicago, and our thoughts today are with your wonderful, loving and supportive family.  You were a tough cookie, a spunky little sweetheart, Sid’s feisty older lady, and the embodiment of the pug motto “multum in parvo.” You are already missed.
