Twilight Time

IMG_5397

Hiya Pug Slopers! My, aren’t you looking lovely/handsome today.

I went for an awesome walk yesterday after dinner and wanted to tell you about it. I love going for walks as the sun is setting because (some days) the colors of the sky are incredible!

It’s still pretty dang cold outside – which is why I’ve got TWO layers on – but the wonderful golden hues help keep my mind off my chilly toes. I know some of you guys and gals wear boots but not this pug. Trust me, my dad has tried. I like my tootsies naked.

When is your favorite time to go for a walk?

Guardian the Frozen Tundra

So, guys, I woke up yesterday morning, hopped out the door for my morning walk, and check out what I saw:

Is it just Chicago or is it like this EVERYWHERE? Who let the snow out?

IMG_4948

I actually enjoy the snow as long as it’s not too cold outside and I’m properly bundled up. Oh, and I know it looks like I’m surrounded by a field of delicious Pringles, but let me tell you THEY ARE SADLY NOT PRINGLES. They’re just yucky-tasting leaves. Yeah, I know, I thought one of my dreams had finally come true…

So, I moved on ever hopeful I might discover the motherload of frozen tasty morsels.

Unfortunately, no goodies were found. But I did get an idea for a screenplay, tentatively titled “Siddhartha Lamont: Guardian of the Frozen Tundra” which will star yours truly (naturally) and will take place in Chicago because it’s the coldest place I’ve ever lived. I’ve only got the title so far, but I’ve got a suspicion that I’m going to have PLENTY of time to work on the script while I’m cooped up indoors for the next 4 months or so.

IMG_4955

What do you think? You think some studio will produce it? Do you think I can pull of the lead pug role? Although I’m 9, I’ve been told I can play 6 or 7. And finally, what the heck is tundra anyway?

September Strolling

September weather is the best for strolling.

IMG_4575

Not too hot. Not too cold. Just right.

Anyone want to join us for a stroll in the park?

I Scream For…

Sid and I hope everyone had a fun Fourth of July. It was so nice having a three-day weekend. Not only did we have amazing weather but we were graced with the presence of a whole car-load of special guests!

IMG_3654

When the packed car pulled up at Pug Slope HQ, Christy and Tim (pug-rents of Angel Payton the Pug) and their pugs, Donald and Daisy, hopped out followed by two other humans. Humans whom Sid and I had never met in person before: Christy’s parents – a.k.a. Payton’s “Gammy” and “Gampy”! Sid’s mind was blown.

The beach was packed for the holiday so we opted to hang out at Winnemac Park. We spread out the blanket, kicked back, and let the pugs do some serious sniffing. Daisy was happy we didn’t end up going to the beach as she is not very crazy about sand and surf. The recently-mowed grass of the park was much more her speed.

I was armed with venison jerky treats and as soon as Sid noticed this fact, he got into super-model mode and did whatever pose would ensure promptest treat delivery.

IMG_3657

Donald caught wind of what was going on and joined in on the action. If you ever wish to have a pug in your presence, and you don’t see any around, just hold some venison jerky in your hands. Within seconds you will have at least half a dozen sitting in front of you staring unblinkingly.

We all hopped in the car and rolled over to Crosby’s Kitchen for lunch. All pugs were on exceptional behavior! I guess they might have had some premonition of joy in their near future and didn’t want to do anything stupid that would spoil what was in store for them after lunch.

After a delicious meal, we all made tracks for Scooter’s Frozen Custard which was one of three places on Gampy’s Chicago checklist. The other two were also ice cream joints. The man has his priorities in order, that’s for sure.

IMG_3659

Not only did the humans get to indulge in delicious frozen custard concoctions, but each of the dogs were given their own complementary mini cones filled with vanilla frozen custard! The teeny cones were adorable but I didn’t get a photo of them. You know why? Well, I was busy dealing with another situation. I’ll let the photos tell the story…

If there would have been a third photo, it would have captured Sid’s muppet arms swiping my ice cream right off the bench and onto the ground. Remember when I said the pugs were behaving exceptionally well during lunch? Well, a CERTAIN PUG WHOSE NAME STARTS WITH AN “S” couldn’t contain himself in the presence of the sweet sweet ice cream and knocked his poor dad’s cup onto the ground.

Thank goodness Scooter’s was very understanding of my predicament and gave me a replacement cup for free. I’m pretty certain Sid felt no remorse for his actions and probably would have knocked my second cup of ice cream on the ground if there was a 0.001% chance that it might end up in his mouth.

Before we parted ways, Sid said he wanted to be sure he got a photo with Gammy because she’s one of his biggest fans.

Thank you to Christy, Tim, Donald, Daisy, Gammy, and Gampy for visiting us and for making this one of Sid’s best days ever!

Oh Joy!

Good day to you, Pug Slopers!

Boy, I’m feeling great today! I hope you all are, too.

The sun is shining, it has FINALLY starting to warm up around here (Hello, it’s almost JUNE for crying out loud!), and I’ve been sporting my favorite bandana: the black one. Yes, it’s true, I’m a bad boy. I don’t know why but my dad just laughed right now.

Anywho, I hope you all have a great weekend. Hopefully there’s some good weather in the forecast wherever you may be. So now it’s time to turn up the tunes, strut like you’re the coolest pug/human alive, and indulge in delicious treats. You with me?

Long Shadows

Don’t you just love when the days start getting longer? Although it’s still pretty dang cold out here (no warm temps on the horizon either), it just seems much more bearable when the sun is still out during Sid’s post-dinner walk.

July Flashback

We hope everyone is staying warm. I considered renting a car and just driving south but it’s frigid all the way to Florida. Seems like our friends on the West Coast are the only ones that can go outside with just one layer of pants. Sid and I are faring pretty well – although that sometimes entails us wearing jackets and scarves INDOORS.

I was flipping through some old photos from the adventures we had this past summer: Running around at Winnemac Park, swimming in Lake Michigan at the Foster Ave. Dog Beach, and taking walks that lasted more than 6 minutes.

Here’s a pic of Sid enjoying the nice summer weather at Winnemac Park with one of his favorite plush potatoes.

Think warm thoughts and have a great weekend!
